My first Tales game was Vesperia!!! That's why it holds a special place in my heart. My first favorite character was Yuri, of course. I think the first time I died was when you had to fight that one monster before you left the forest??? When Yuri and the party were being chased by the Knights I think?? IDK. It was probably the first really big boss fight tbh. My first favorite moment of the series was when everyone found out that Rita was Mordio and they were so surprised LMAO

That one monster. I feel like that's something everyone dies to. THAT ONE MONSTER.

My first game was Symphonia, way back in the day, and my first favorite character was Kratos. I'd guessed at ~the secret~ re: Lloyd before getting to the Tower of Salvation and was pretty devastated after that part... so then I was super mad at Kratos for a while until it finally came out that I was right all along. So I guess the scene at Altessa's was my first favorite moment of the series.

also idk about dying that was so long ago and I am so terrible at RPGs...

You just die all the time and life goes on. That's a tales staple.

my first tales game was symphonia - i got it at walmart back when it was definitely a year or two old by then. i remember i wanted to get more into videogames, since i never really played them when i was really young, like a lot of people did! from there on i went to phantasia, then to whatever else i could get, i loved the series from then on.

my first favourite tales character was forcystus because he was....hot. then yuan. little me had the same priorities as i do now, sob.

the first time i died was probably the first boss or smth, it was my first type of game in that sort of style when i was young. i do remember dying a million times on the one-on-one fight with kratos though.

my first favourite moment... i cant recall, but i remember religiously trying to get all the 'pairing' scenes in Flanoir, haha. so lets just say those i guess.

My first Tales games was Symphonia! First favourite character was Genis since little-me had a thing for tiny mage boys. Fighting against Sylph is the first time I can recall dying, because stupid multi-enemy battle.

And my first favourite moment was the first visit to the Tower of Salvation. Pretty much blew my eleven year-old mind.

That area around Tower of Salvation was so gosh darn stunning. JUST SO BEAUTIFUL.

My first Tales game was Abyss (which is my all time favorite Tales game so far, which is why I talk about it in like every discussion, I'm sorry). One of my friends was a big Abyss fan and knew I liked JRPGs, so I bought it online at her insistence, played it over the summer, and suuuuper enjoyed it.

And my first favorite character is my current favorite-- Luke. I don't remember the first time I died since I first played it a few years ago lmao, but it might have been during the liger queen battle?? And my first favorite moment, I think, was in Abyss when Luke [spoiler spoiler JUST IN CASE].

I can't remember when I first died, I usually took a lot of care to level grind my characters way over the level they should be, but generally the only times I would have died would be against the extra bosses.

My first favorite moment from Symphonia would be... examining the Colette-shaped hole in the wall. I. Yes.

My first Tales game was the infamous DeJap translation of Phantasia. I didn't even know that Tales of was a series back then, and the only reason I latched onto the game was because of my raging obsession with Golden Sun at the time: "Guys guys doesn't the main character kind of look like Isaac?" (spoilers: he doesn't they're just both blond and I'm blind) and "WOAH THE MUSIC IS BY THE SAME GUY" mostly. That and Phantasia was the first time I liked a game that had an active battle system (as opposed to the traditional menu type RPGs), and helped open the road toward liking games outside my preference at the time. And my first favorite character was Cless because I was 11 and he was the cutest one in the cast LEAVE ME ALONE /cry

The first time I died though I don't even remember but knowing my 11 year old self probably during the first fight because WOAH WHAT IS THIS THIS DOESNT LOOK LIKE AN RPG BATTLE SCREEN WHAT'S GOING ON

My first favorite scene though... probably the infamous boat scene, or the entire boat trip really. Less for the innuendos because what did I know back then, and more because it was the first scene I remember where the cast was just... fooling around and having a lot of fun, whether it was because Klarth was trolling or because half of them got drunk ~~and then everything went terrible AND I HAD TO GO FIGHT THE BOSS BY MYSELF NO ONE TOLD ME I NEEDED GELS BEFORE THE VOYAGE SOB~~

Symphonia was my first game; I remember reading about it in Nintendo Power before it came out, seeing the words "it's like an anime in video game form" and getting so very very excited. I have to say Kratos was my first favorite character, but only because you met him before Sheena, and I'm pretty sure I was instantly in love because he saved the party from death at Vidarr's hands.

I don't remember the first time I died in a battle but I'm sure it was a boss battle. Maybe Kvar? If not, then probably the dragons' nest. As for favorite moments...well, I fell in love with the opening sequence, actually.

I think that's how I started in Symphonia too, actually. Nintendo Power said something cool and I was like SOLD.

And now my life is ruined.

My first Tales game was Symphonia. I DIED AT THAT STUPID FIRE TEMPLE BOSS, like, it's SUPER EARLY ON and I was so pissed I threw the controller. I sucked at the battle system for DAYS, way to go me.

My favorite character was (and is!) Kratos even though he's a huge dick. I love characters like him, who knows what that says about me >>

My favorite moment in Symphonia is...uh...idk, probably when you get Regal. I have a special warm fuzzy place in my heart for Regal.

Someday I'll get to the part with Regal. Maybe in the HD release.

My first game was (appropriately) Phantasia! And... yeah, Arche was my favourite.

...I don't remember when I died, but I assume it was early on because I suck.

My first favourite moment was probably the scene about Mint's mother, when you first meet her. SHIT WAS CREEPY AND CUTE AT THE SAME TIME, MAN.

I have never played Phantasia but I PROBABLY SHOULD YES.

My first Tales game was Tales of the Abyss, though I think my first favorite was Arche from Tales of Phantasia. 'w' I DON'T... actually remember the first time I died, though. I think it was early on against the liger with Luke because I didn't free run. I ACTUALLY WENT MOST OF MY FIRST ABYSS PLAYTHROUGH NOT... FREE RUNNING... LIKE AN IDIOT... but anyway.

My actual most favorite moment is everyone talking in the City Before Final Dungeon in Phantasia though since there are a lot of touching moments between all of the characters. 'w'

My first Tales of game was Symphonia, and my first favorite was Raine but that was only because she joined before Regal (who is an awful character but he's also so fun, I hate him, he's my favorite, etc.). The moment that blew me away, though, was the first time I used Nurse (I play as Raine in Symphonia usually, ha. Haha.). It was so cute.

And I actually didn't die in my first Tales of game, but Phantasia was a far departure from ToS so that one did me in a few times. I hate being that guy, but I was decent at Symphonia.

ihu. Symphonia killed me so many times especially against Sheena. Holy crap.

My first tales was Symphonia! Zelos was my first favorite! It's been so long since I played the first time I can't remember when I first died. I think my favorite moment in the entire game of symphonia is when lloyd is asking how regal cooks with his hands cuffed and regal is straight-faced and said he cooks with his feet.

TECHNICALLY my first was Phantasia. But I died very early on against a normal encounter, and put it down for a very long time. Later, I picked up Destiny and loved it! I know I instantly loved Dymlos, and if we're counting my first death in that game it would've been... against the sea monster heading out of Aquaveil? As for first favorite moment? That's actually pretty hard... I guess the whole "rescuing" Rutee sequence? With how Stahn fucks up and gets trapped himself and Mary has to save both of them.

- Genis = first favourite (although even back then I self-regulated my fun to the extent that I would not declare a favourite until I finished the game, at which point this answer reverts to Kratos like everything else seems to)
- Triet Ruins = PROBABLY first death? fucking mimics
- Honestly though, I can't think of favourite moments. There are several skits I like, lots of different aspects to the series that I enjoy overall, but I don't know about moments. It might have been the Great Mithos Reveal, and it was Definitely Not when I threw the controller down and yelled at Kratos just as much as Lloyd did in the first time visiting the Tower of ~~Shit Happens~~ Salvation.

My first Tales game was Symphonia! And my favorite characters were Zelos and Kratos. I went back and forth on which one I liked best depending on how annoyed I was at a given betrayal. Oops. And when I got fed up with both of them, Sheena was where it was at, followed closely by Yuan. \o/

The first time I died was against the demon sword arms skeleton thing that you can meet before you leave for Palmacosta. Funny story there.... So uh... I was so mad about not being able to beat it that I started level grinding, and I went progressively further afield in my level grinding until I wound up wandering the wrong way around the continent and advancing the plot kind of backwards. I didn't actually get to the Palmacosta leg until the end of that loop, by which point I looked at the shops and their petty equipment and went, "But why?" I didn't realize that I'd done it wrong. 8'D

My favorite first moment of the series.... you know I'm not really sure. Probably Marble. ;o; Or getting to ride Noishe around on the world map.

My first game was Abyss, but I stopped playing it soon after because I got Vesperia haha My first favourite chracter was, and still is, Yuri, I love him so much it hurts. The first time I died? THE FIRST TIME YOU MEET FLYNN, I WAS SO HAPPY AND THEN MY HOPES AND DREAMS WERE CRUSHED.
And I think my favourite part was seeing Guy joining Luke in his adventure haha

My first Tales game was Eternia, when it was out in PS1! I... think I died at a random battle against eggbear LMAO It was so long ago, I don't remember much anymore. (But I do recall dropping the game because I couldn't beat Volt)

My first fave chara was actually Keele! Wee me thought he was very cool (and funny), so it didn't take long for him to become my favourite. I remember liking him because he was a smarty-pants too, and I liked how passionate he is towards his research. Little me admired that aspect of him.

Plus he's a Hot Dad. The first time I remember dying was against the first boss, Marble/Exbelua. I died a lot. video games is hard.

Symphonia was my first Tales, quite a while after it came out in North America! Raine was my first favourite character, but by the end of the game my favourites were Colette and Zelos. On the whole, though, I'm pretty attached to everyone in Symphonia's cast.

I don't remember the first time I died in Symphonia, but I remember dying a ton in Phantasia (my second Tales game). During boss battles, during regular encounters... Pretty much anywhere I could die, I did die, sob.

As for favourite moments, it's been a long time since I played Symphonia, so I don't really remember my favourite moments? All of the moments that come to mind are the dumb comedy ones, like the first time you see Lloyd's wanted poster or when Colette kicks the dog.

Lloyd's wanted poster was the best thing in that game, I won't take arguments. AND HEY MIGHT AS WELL DIE.

Like a bunch of people here, Symphonia was my first Tales game. I don't think I was even aware that Tales games were a series to begin with, haha, and living in the UK made it kind of difficult to get hold of more games for a long time. Things have really changed in recent years, though, and I'm even going to finally get to play Legendia for the first time soon! I'm really excited for that, hahaha.

My first favourite character was sort of Zelos because I'd already been told to look out for him, oops, but my first "natural" favourite was actually Genis, hahaha. Which is funny, because in the nicest way possible I really have no strong feelings about him at all these days, ahahaha. And I have no recollection at all of when my first game over was! I suspect it might well have been on the dias in Asgard though, after Raine performs the ritual. I think I might have lost that one the first time I played.

And yeah, it's been so long now I don't really remember what my first favourite moment might have been. And oh no I just tried looking at ancient LJ entries to try and find my early opinions and OH NO, I WAS. SO EMBARRASSING.... sob sob sob. I remember my mind being absolutely blown open by the first Tower of Salvation visit, though, so I think we'll go ahead and say that :o!

I'M VERY EXCITED more people play Legendia omg it's my true love.

Tales of the Abyss was my first game. At the beginning of the game my favourite character was Guy, but moving forward through the game that changed to Asch (I still love Guy though). I probably died way too early in the game for my liking but I can't remember? I know that suit of armour at a castle whooped my ass three ways to Sunday every time I fought him and I learned not to mess with that dude.

My favourite moment of the series was the cliimax when luke cuts his hair. It really shows character development and growth and also allows the game to continue in a more serious fashion.

I've learned to NEVER mess with suits of armor. With things in them or not. They will mess you up.

My first was Symphonia! I decided my favourite character was actually Genis roundabout the beginning of the game I was 12 or something back then ~~I remember being excited about playing my first 12+ game~~ and then when I met Zelos, it became Zelos haha ~~There's this pattern of liking cute anime dudes or something~~ Though now at 21 and though I haven't replayed it and just watched the OVAs, I think I've decided that Colette is my favourite, so I'm rather amused at how my favourite character types have changed as I've gotten older. I honestly can't remember when I first died... Aw gosh, I can't even remember my first favourite moment but I'm pretty sure it had something to do with Colette and her angel transformation cutscenes. Actually yeah I think it was, since I loved Colette's angel wings so much that I named my main email address after it I still use it to this day even though it kinda screams a 12 year old made it... The cutscenes themselves got pretty emotional, especially the one at the Tower of Salvation where Colette is fine with sacrificing herself (I hope I'm remembering this right).

I just love Colette's wings ;A; JUST LOVE THEM SO MUCH they're so pretty and rainbowy and i'm just like squishes her

My first Tales of Game was Symphonia when it was released for the Game Cube! My first favorite character was from that game, and it was Zelos Wilder. The firs time I died was against the very first boss in that game (I was level 1, since I was afraid to battle at that time) And the favorite moment would have to be... well, the ending for Tales of Vesperia. I loved that ending like no other!
