That said, I'm a Symphonia girl at heart, even if it's probably pretty simple compared to some of the rest.

The runner-up would be Vesperia, though, mostly because it's my favorite game.
/doesn't have a bias at all
no subject
your bias is fine because you put aside your favourite game for another games plot, so i'd say its not much of a bias at all! ten points to malador.

...that this is harder than it looked. Hmm. I remember watching the trailer for Xillia (before it was officially announced for release here, even, I think) and really expecting a whole awful lot...and looking back, as much as I love the game to death, it didn't deliver entirely. Boo to me for having expectations based on the trailer, yep, and I didn't even think about how what I expected and what I got were really different until a few days ago. That said, I am probably voting for Xillia because it felt fresh, still. Some things were surprising and veered around the Tales-of formula more than most do.
SECOND PLACE goes to Vesperia - the big fandom joke that it has no plot aside - because of the humanness of it, I think. Yuri
has brain cellsis just your average guy, in some really human respects, who stuff happens to and for a while he gets dragged along through it; the decisions he makes, when he takes the action into his own hands, are often morally reprehensible and kind of "you're supposed to be the hero character...right?" and so even if the plot isn't entirely, er, glued together, you see it more like a series of life events...some of which the person living the life doesn't have a whole lot of control or choice over.no subject
i'm curious, what exactly did you want that you didn't get?

XILLIA HAS BEAUTIFUL MOMENTS IN IT AND VERY HUMAN ONES and I'd hate to think I sound like I'm complaining because. Absolutely not.
*In a lot of ways, it is darker and edgier. I think I love it so much because you walk away feeling triumphant and good about most choices despite that.

Shhh shh it's my escape I get to want the fantasy I wantI've heard a few (some intentional, which gets my goat, man) incidental things about X2 and I go around all I DON"T WANT TO KNOW because spoilers are not nice but also because I want to have hope in what it will be, you know? I'm afraid, a little bit, of bad outcomes.
I EXPECT SOMETHING AWESOME NEVERTHELESS.

i have heard there is a good ending, in a sense, so if anything you'll have that if the actual ending destroys us

damn
yeah i heard about the good-ending stuff too. pls good ending also be true ending!
i don't mind being ruined by a tales game though, xillia took a lot of risks and i ended up loving 98% of them even though it was breaking me
